Honoring John Riggins

John Riggins ("The Diesel") is a Hall of Fame running back (1971–1985) known for his bruising style with the New York Jets and Washington Redskins. A 1992 inductee, he was the MVP of Super Bowl XVII, rushing for a record 166 yards, and set a then-record with 24 touchdowns in 1983.

Riggins famously sat out the 1980 season due to a contract dispute before returning to lead Washington's ground game. Following his retirement, he has worked in media and acted, including appearances on TV series like Guiding Light and One Tree Hill.
